The present invention relates to a barring unit which can be fitted to a lock bolt or to a linkage for operating lock bolts. This barring unit comprises a means for electrically causing the rotation of an element (6) housed inside a recess (5) in the unit and defining, together with this recess, switch gear capable of switching a lever (7) which is articulated to the lock bolt (P) in one direction or another in order to allow either the interaction of the lever (7) with an abutment element (8) secured to the unit in order to bar the lock bolt (P) or to allow the lever (7) to escape from this abutment element in order to unbar the lock element (P) mounted slidingly inside the unit. The unit of this invention can, for example, be fitted to a strong-box linkage or a linkage for a lock with multiple lock bolts. <IMAGE>
