Kitchen utensils such as a saucepan or casserole intended to be used for cooking by direct contact with the flame of a burner or the like. It takes the form of a hollow container (1) whose depth is appropriate to the food being prepared, and advantageously it has a handle (2) for ease of handling. The base of said container (1) is made from a material that will enable it to be placed in direct contact with the flame. It is characterised in that it has at a midpoint on its height a collar or border (4) parallel with the base (5) and larger than the latter. <IMAGE>
