PURPOSE:To obtain the title film excellent in mechanical strengths, biodegradability, and industrial productivity by forming a film comprising a specific powdered cellulose or rice starch particles and chitosan. CONSTITUTION:The title film comprises 100 pts.wt. either or the sum of powdered cellulose having a minor diameter of 20mu or lower and a ratio of the major to the minor diameter of 10 or lower and rice starch particles and 5-100 pts.wt. chitosan. The cellulose is obtd. by grinding pulp by mechanical or chemical treatment and selecting a cellulose having the above-described diameter and ratio of diameters from the grinding product, increases the viscosity of a chitosan soln. little when dispersed therein, enabling an increase in the concn. of a film-forming soln., and is packed well into the resulting film, giving a dense high-strength film.
