An outer electrode at earth potential encases at least one inner electrode in the form of a metal capsule. An upwardly convex distance holder supports the inner electrode. In a flange of the outer electrode touching the distance holder a circular groove is machined, open towards the inner electrode. An insulating gas filling is provided, pref. sulphur hexafluoride. From the edge (5) of the groove (4) on the inner surface of the outer electrode (2) an auxiliary electrode (6) with a curved outer surface rises over the inner surface of the outer electrode. The curvature of the outer surface of this electrode leads further to the outer electrode, leaving a gap opening (7) between the auxiliary electrode and the outer electrode.
