ALKYD RESIN COMPOSITION AND ACTINIC RADIATION-CURABLE PRINTING INK COMPOSITION

PURPOSE:To obtain an alkyd resin composition which is prevented from causing staining in printing and poor transfer when used in an actinic radiation-curable printing ink composition by reacting a specified polyalcohol component with an acid component comprising a polycarboxylic acid and a monocarboxylic acid. CONSTITUTION:A polyalcohol component (A) is obtained by mixing a polyalcohol selected from among compounds of formulas I-III optionally with another polyalcohol. An acid component (B) is obtained by mixing a polycarboxylic acid with a monocarboxylic acid. Component A is reacted with component B in a ratio of the hydroxyl groups of component A to the carboxyl groups of component B of 1.05-1.80 at 80-300 deg.C in an inert reaction solvent an in inert gas atmosphere to obtain an alkyd resin composition of a softening point of 30 deg.C or above. This composition is mixed with a radical-polymerizable compound and optionally a radical polymerization initiator to obtain an actinic radiation-curable printing ink composition.
