The flow sensor (1) has at least one heat source or sink, at least one temperature sensor for detecting the temperature in the source or sink or its immediate surroundings, and an electronic circuit for evaluating the temp. signal. The heat source or sink and the temp. sensor can be combined into a single component which can act simultaneously or sequentially as the source or sink and temperature sensor. The sensor has only two electrical connections and two completely different values of its internal resistance, which it adopts when the flow exceeds or falls below a defined value, can be evaluated as its output signal. USE/ADVANTAGE - For e.g. for monitoring lubricant or coolant flow, measuring flow of surround flowing medium. Sensor has only two electrical connections and hence reduces cabling and connector costs.
