Thixotropic formulation contg. highly disperse SiO2 also contains hydroxy-functional polycarbamides of formula R-(CO-NR'-Z- (Q)y (OHx)n (I). In (I) R = 2-60C aliphatic hydrocarbon gps., 6-20C aromatic gps., 6-150 C aliphatic or aliphatic/aromatic hydrocarbon gps.with 2, 4, 6 ot 8 carbamido gps. in the chain or 4-150 C aliphatic hydrocarbon gps. with 2-75 -O- atoms in the chain; R' = H, 1-4C alkyl or -Z'-(Q)y-(OH)x; x = 1-3; y = 0 or 1; Z and Z' independently = 2-6C alkylene; Q = 2-200 C aliphatic hydrocarbon gp. linked to Z or Z' through -O- or -O-CO- and with 0-99 -O- atoms and/or carboxylate ester gps. in the chain; n = 2-3.
