PURPOSE:To prevent a rise in oil temperature and a reduction in efficiency of sending an oil under pressure by providing a cover to form an isolation chamber wherein a sprocket for driving a trochoid gear of an oil pump is contained, thereby sheltering the sprocket from an oil. CONSTITUTION:On the side of a sprocket 15 a cover 10 is secured to a side wall 16 of an oil pump body 12 to form an isolation chamber 22 wherein a sprocket for driving a trochoid gear 14 of the oil pump is contained. The cover 10 is shaped like a cup whose open area is semicircular, rising to its uppermost rim 18 over a highest level 21 of an oil 20. A flange 17 of the body 12 and the cover 10 closing its open side form the isolation chamber 22, which prevents the sprocket 15 from soaking in the oil. Thereby, the sprocket 15 can be sheltered from the oil. |
