Liq. filter having a housing divided by a partition plate into a dirty and a clean chamber, with filter candles rigidly extending into the dirty chamber supported from the partition plate and each with a riser tube extending through the candle holes in the partition plate into the clean chamber, and with a striker device for discharging the filter candles, with the novel features that, the partition plate (2) is rigidly secured within the housing (1), that the riser tubes (9) of the candles (7) extend thro' the candle holes (6) with a degree of moveable play, that each has a compression spring (23) acting between the partition plate (2) and the end of the riser tube (9) within the clean-side chamber, that the striker device (11) possess an impingement plate (14) moveable against the end of each filter candle, and that the riser tube (9) carries at the candle engaging side of the partition plate, a seal ring (16) which effects sealing against the seat (6a) in the candle hole (6). USE/ADVANTAGE - A liquid filter with a solids discharging mechanism involving minimal percussive force on the filter candles and which avoids sealing difficult between the candles and the partition plate
