FLEXIBLE FIBROUS SHEET AND MULTICOMPONENT YARN SUITABLE FOR PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain a flexible fibrous sheet having high strength by adding a thermoplastic polymer containing a polyolefin segment composed of saturated hydrocarbon skeleton in a porous state to nonwoven fabric comprising bundled yarn of ultrathin fibers. CONSTITUTION:Sea island type or multi-core sheath core type polyurethane multicomponent yarn comprising a thermoplastic polyurethane containing a polyolefin segment composed of saturated hydrocarbon skeleton as a dispersion medium component and another thermoplastic polymer (e.g. polyamide or polyester) incompatible with the polyurethane as a dispersion component is used to give interlaced nonwoven fabric. Then the polyurethane in the multicomponent yarn is dissolved by using a solvent which is a solvent for the polyurethane and is a non-solvent for the other components or by impregnating the fabric with a solution of the same polyurethane or a different polyurethane and coagulated in water to give a finely porous flexible fibrous sheet.
