Impregnating fibre materials (I) involves dipping (I) in an aq. impregnating medium (II) contg. organic, polymeric, thermoplastic and/or thermoreactive resin(s) (III) which are not electrophoretically deposited under the given conditions and/or coupling agent(s) (IV); connecting (I) as an electrode; spreading (I) by applying a d.c. voltage; impregnating (I) with (II) without electrophoretic pptn.; then switching off the voltage; and removing (I) from the medium. More specifically, the impregnated (I) is then washed by spraying with a suitable liq., esp. water, blown off and dried. (I) consists of C fibres or woven fabric or mat and (III) is polyimide powder and/or polyether-ketone. (II) contains at least one resin (III) and a coupling agent (IV), pref. polyacrylic acid (with (I) as cathode) or a polyamine (with (I) as anode). (II) is stirred continuously or agitated with ultrasound. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process enables the impregnation of electrically conductive fibre materials (esp.
