Determn. of ejaculate quality - by measuring concn. of microparticles

The quality of ejaculates, esp. intended for artificial insemination of livestock, is determined by measuring the concn. of microparticles in the ejaculate and using a calibration curve to determine the statistically probable efficiency of the ejaculate. The microparticles are membrane-enclosed vesicles with a dia. of 1-6 microns, filled with cytoplasm components. The assay is performed by diluting an ejaculate sample with physiological saline, placing the sample in a blood cell counter chamber, and counting the microparticles under a microscope. ADVANTAGE - The process gives more reliable results w.r.t. probable pregnancy rates than the process of DD 269555.
