The insulating glass assembly, using at least two panes for double glazing, has bodies of dimensional stability to hold the panes apart. The distance body has holders on the sides towards the glass panes to be secured by an adhesive and mouldable elastic material, esp. Si. The distance bodies are fitted at a gap from the panes. The bodies to act as distance pieces are hollow, with hollow communicating zones to be filled with material to the glass panes. The bodies are formed by at least two sections plugged together or in a keyed fit with each other. The sides or sections of the holders towards the glass panes are fitted with stabilising projections or holders to take the glass. The distance holder bodies have a round, oval or polygon cross section, or they are hollow bars with an H-shaped outer profile. The distance bodies orm a bond or a screen, or a grid of bars and knotting bodies. The holding bodies can be fitted with a central threaded drilling, to be aligned with a drilling passing through the glass pane, for a screw mounting. ADVANTAGE - The distance body structure allows forces to be transferred from one side of the glass pane to the other, to give a glass sandwich assembly.
