A device for use in providing a concealed fixing comprises a hollow body (1) with barbs (9) for engagement with a bore of an item to be mounted. The body (1) has a keyhole shaped opening (5) to allow entry of a fixing screw head through a circular part (5a). The screw head may be fixed by moving to a second position in the elongate groove (5b). inclination of the surfaces of the body engaged by the fixing screw head provides for a tightening and/or levelling function.
