PURPOSE:To perform recording which has no problem in actual use, in response to the types of images and types of materials to be recorded by a method wherein when the type of an image is identified, if it is decided that the ink absorbability, etc., of a recording paper is inferior, plural times of ink implantings are performed at parts of characters, etc. CONSTITUTION:A recording signal which is input in an image processing unit 13 is identified into middle tone image parts and character/fine line parts at an image identification processing unit 14, and is input in a recording control unit 4, and the latter parts are recorded by a black ink K only. Recording heads 51-54 are electrically connected with the control unit 4, and perform recording by discharging inks with 4 colors. According to the type of a material to be recorded, which is shown by a signal P from a material-to-be-recorded identification unit 10, when the material to be recorded is inferior in ink absorbing property, the control unit 4 performs color recording by recording signals K1, C1, M1, Y1, for which process is applied in response to the identification by an identification unit 14, for a first scanning. Then, without performing paper delivery, a second scanning is performed again. That is, using the K head only, only the K data for character and fine line parts (K1) is duplicately recorded. Then, paper delivery is performed by a width L, and recording is performed in the same manner. |
