A brake actuator has a pair of linear force transmission assemblies (9) arranged to transmit brake-applying force from a primary power source to a brake friction element (2), each assembly incorporating an automatic adjuster (16). The assemblies (9) are actuated from the power source by a single force-applying lever (11) acting by way of a single force input member in the form of a balance beam (12) which actuates both assemblies. <IMAGE>
