PURPOSE:To suppress the consumption of toners and copying paper or memory (memory medium) by disposing a sensor which detects the imposition of a document. CONSTITUTION:The sensor 24 for detecting the imposition of the document D on a document plate 12 at the time of copying or reading the information stated on the document D is disposed. The fact that the imposed document D has the information, i.e., the document is not a blank document, is detected. Then, the setting of the document D to be copied or read is surely detected when the copying operation or reading operation is going to be executed. The execution of the undesired copying operation or reading operation and the waste of consuming materials for image forming, such as copying paper and toners or the waste of consuming materials for image reading, such as memory region of memory, i.e., memory media, are lessened in this way. |
