PURPOSE:To form high-quality images with which character cracks are inconspicuous by providing a selecting means by a key input and switching and using matrix in conformity with an original. CONSTITUTION:A 1st means which executes multigradation writing of every one dot and area gradation with plural dots in a main scanning direction, a 2nd means which executes the multigradation writing of every one dot and the area gradation with the plural dots in a sub-scanning direction and a switching input means which switches the 1st and 2nd means are provided. The direction where the area gradation is switched or the density change at the switching is so set as to continue in accordance with the kind, direction, size or reference density of the original. Further, the multivalent writing by one-dot modulation is combined with the micromatrix of low definition. The formation of the sensible images of the fine line and character cracks is prevented in this way and the high-quality images are formed. |
