PURPOSE:To drastically recover catalytic activity and to reproduce a catalyst by oxydation under a specified condition when activity of methanol reforming catalyst is lowered. CONSTITUTION:In using the catalyst consisting of Cu as main component and containing other metal such as Zn, Ni, etc., for reforming methanol to change into hydrogen containing gas in the presence of water, if the activity of the catalyst after use is lowered, the catalyst is exposed to atmosphere of <=5mol% molecular state oxygen at 120-650 deg.C. According to such method, valence of the active component mainly consisted of Cu is recovered and the catalyst is reproduced. Therefore, activity and selectivity of the catalyst are kept for long period and enables to prolong the catalytic life drastically. |
