STABILIZING AGENT FOR L-ASCORBIC ACID AND ITS SALT AND STABILIZATION OF L-ASCORBIC ACID AND ITS SALT USING THE AGENT

PURPOSE:To obtain a stabilizing agent effective for stabilizing L-ascorbic acid, having high safety and producible at a low cost by extracting sunflower seed with water and using the extract as active component. CONSTITUTION:Sunflower seed or its pressed cake is extracted with water or water-containing alcohol and the obtained component is used as a stabilizing agent for L-ascorbic acid and its salt. The sunflower seed is useful mainly as a raw material for sunflower oil or as a feed for pet. The cake left after the squeezing of oil is usually used as a feed for domestic animal and is also usable as a raw material for the present stabilizer. The content of the active component of the present stabilizer is high in the crust of the seed compared with the albumen of the seed. In the case of using a water-containing alcohol, the seed is extracted with an alcohol solution having a concentration of 20-90vol.% at room temperature to 70 deg.C.
