PURPOSE:To efficiently prevent fuming of exhaust gas by using a catalytic structural body employing a electrical conductive carrier base as a catalyst, providing an electrical heating means on the body and heating the catalytic heating body when the exhaust gas passing the catalytic structural body is low temp. CONSTITUTION:In cleaning the exhaust gas of diesel engine by coming into contact with the catalyst, the catalytic structural body (example: catalytic composition containing at least one kind of Pt, Rh and Pd) employing the electrical conductive carrier base (example: integrated structural body consisting of metal, silicon carbide or barium titanate) is used. The electrical heating means is provided on the body and the body is heated by conducting electricity when the temp. of the exhaust gas of diesel engine passing the body is low. Consequently the accumulation of high b.p. hydrocarbon which causes fuming of the exhaust gas on the catalyst layer is prevented, and thus fuming of the exhaust gas is efficiently prevented. |
