PURPOSE:To obtain an instant air warming effect automatically, prevent power loss, and improve an air conditioning feeling by operating an electric heater in response to a signal representing a heat exchanging capacity of a main heat exchanger and a signal representing a surrounding temperature of the automobile. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer 16 reads-in data from a temperature sensitive element 13 arranged in an engine coolant introducing pipe 21a and from another temperature sensitive element 14 for detecting an external temperature and processes it. When the temperature of the coolant flowing through a heater core 10 is relatively low and further the external temperature is also relatively low, in order to warm the air within the passenger room, power is supplied to the electric heater 12 to carry out an auxiliary heating. If the coolant temperature rises high enough, the power supply to the electric heater 12 is interruptted. |
