The hinge consists of a fixed strap 1 exhibiting a slot 5 provided with successive notches inside which a rivet 21, carried by a moving strap 2 can move. This strap 2 exhibits a bent slot 20 which receives a rivet 11 secured to the strap 1. A spring 23 constrains the rivet 11 inside the slot 20. The straps 1 and 2 form an angle of 180 DEG between them, a thrust applied to the strap 2 in the anticlockwise direction makes it possible to obtain a succession of locked positions with different inclination of the strap 2, corresponding to the rivet 21 coming into each of the notches in the slot 5, up to a position at 90 DEG . The hinge may be used on arms, armrests and any furniture requiring adjustable positions which are locked in one direction and can be returned freely in the other direction. <IMAGE>
