PURPOSE:To recover or maintain the function of a recording head by providing recovery devices on both sides of recording position, which recover the function of the recording head. CONSTITUTION:When a recording head 101 approaches a position 112 (113), a wiper 108 (109) comes in contact with the spouting surface of the recording head 101 at first. When the recording head 101 moves forward, the wiper 108 (109) wipes out the surface of the recording head 101. Therefore, filth and ink residue attached on the spouting surface of the recording head 101 can be removed and kept clean. The recording head 101 moves further and reaches the position 112 (113), causing a cam 114 (115) to be pushed. A controller detects through an rotary encoder 104 a fact that the recording head 101 arrives at the position where it pushes the cam 104 (105), and the recording head 101 is stopped. When arriving at the position 112 (113), the recording head 101 pushes the cam 104 (105) so that a preserving cap 106 (107) is pushed up and brought in contact with the recording head 101 to make the recording head 101 wait in preservation state until the next printing starts. |
