PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound from a cyclic carbonate and an aliphatic monoalcohol in high yield, in high selectivity and continuously by carrying out reaction in the presence of a catalyst at plural plates of continuous multi- stage column and simultaneously taking out a low-boiling product by distillation. CONSTITUTION:In continuously producing a dialkyl carbonate and a diol by reacting a cyclic carbonate with an aliphatic monoalcohol in the presence of a catalyst, the cyclic carbonate and the aliphatic monoalcohol are continuously fed (1 and 2) to a continuous multi-stage distillation column 5, brought into contact with the catalyst laid at plural plates in the distillation column 5 to carry out reaction, a low-boiling product among the objective compounds formed by the reaction is taken out (3) in a gaseous state by distillation from the distillation column 5, a high-boiling product is continuously extracted (4) in a liquid state from the bottom of the column to successively give the objective compound at high reaction rate, in high reaction ratio, in high yield and in high selectivity. |
