PURPOSE:To improve the liquid tightness and shelf life of a dry cell, by disposing a thermally-fusable filler in a gap between a sealing member and a sealing plate incorporating a positive electrode terminal integrated therewith and then heating the filler to cause it to melt, thereby forming a layer of the filler. CONSTITUTION:Into a zinc can 2 lined with the glue layer of a separator 1, a positive electrode compound 3 consisting mainly of manganese dioxide is filled, on which an upper lid paper 4 is mounted. Then, a carbon rod 5 is pushed into the positive electrode compound 3 along its central axis. The zinc can 2 is then tightened and sealed by a tube 7 of a heat-shrinkable resin, which covers the outer surfaces of the zinc can 2, sealing member 6, sealing plate 12 having a positive electrode terminal integrally provided therewith, insulative ring 16 and metallic outer can 17, thereby forming a dry cell. Beteween the sealing plate 12 having the positive electrode terminal provided integrally therewith and the sealing member 6, a layer 8 of a filler is formed. This layer 8 of the filler is formed by disposing in advance a thermally-fusable, sheetlike filler such as for example a filler containing atactic polypropylene as its main component and heating it by an infrared burner or the like when the dry cell is assembled. |
