PURPOSE:To obtain a catalytic honeycomb shaped product which provides a sufficient activity at high temperature and maintenance strength by limiting the specific surface area of a combustion catalytic element manufacturing using a substitution-type laminated aluminate as a raw material to a specified range. CONSTITUTION:A substitution-type laminated aluminate is used as a raw material, and the specific surface area of a combustion catalytic product manufactured by molding said aluminate is 2m<2>/g or more to 24m<2>/g or less. Of the specific surface area is specified as 2m<2>/g or more to 24m<2>/g or less, a satisfactory combustion rate is obtained. In addition, if the specific surface area is 24m<2>/g or less, the catalyst has an adequate strength to withstand its use as a honeycomb shaped product. Subsequently, an activity at high temperature is obtained and the high strength of the catalytic honeycomb shaped product is ensured.
