PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition by blending plant fibers obtained from seed coat of maize with a specific amount of chitosan and a specific amount of alginic acid. CONSTITUTION:Periderm of seed coat of maize seed is treated by any of enzymatic treatment, chemical treatment or physical treatment or a proper combination thereof to give food fibers. 1 pt.wt. of the food fibers is blended with 0.01-1 pt.wt., especially 0.10.3 pt.wt. chitosan and 0.001-1 pt.wt., especially 0.01-0.1 pt.wt. alginic acid. Food fibers obtained by physical treatment of periderm, for example, food fibers prepared by grinding periderm by a grinder such as homogenizer or hammer mill and screening are preferable as the food fibers. |
