PURPOSE:To prevent breakout and improve the quantity of an ingot by providing the backup rolls which are in contact with support rolls at all times and prevent the deformation of the support rolls to the back of the support rolls. CONSTITUTION:Backup rolls 7 which are in contact with support rolls 2 are provided to the back of the support rolls 2 which directly support an ingot 1 moving from a mold, and the bending rigidity of the backup rolls is added to bending rigidity of the support rolls 2 to prevent the support rolls 2 from being deformed by the bulging force by the unsolidified molten steel of the ingot 1. It is preferable to arrange these in such a manner that one backup roll 7 contacts the two support rolls 2 by positioning the axial centers of the backup rolls 7 at the back of the center between the adjacent support rolls 2. |
