Naphthalene measurement in gas sample - by UV fluorescence of mixt. of gas and oxygen@

The quantity of naphthalene in a gas sample is determined by UV fluorescence of a mixt. of the gas and gas contg. O2. Pref., the amt. of O2 supplied can be such as to bring the concn. of it in the mixt. to at least six times that in the sample, typically more than 1.5%. The fluorescence emanating from a measurement bowl subjected to UV irradiation can be measured, the O2 being added to the gas before the latter reaches the bowl.
