The chair comprises a seat and backrest wherein the backrest (3) is part of a first component (1) which extends to the ground and has a guide whilst the seat (4) is part of a second component (2) which likewise extends to the ground and has a tab (6) which engages in the guide. The second component has a stop which fixes the position of the second component relative to the first. The first and second components can be made from flat plates. ADVANTAGE - Low cost space saving seating with good stability.
