Haloalkyl-azole derivs. (I) and their addn. salts and metal salt complexes are new. R1 = opt. substd. phenyl; R2 = H, alkyl, alkenyl, acyl or aralkyl; X1, X2 = halogen Y = N or CH; n = 0 or 1. In the prepn. of (I), (II) is reacted in a diluent with a halogen, a mixed halogen, e.g. CCF, or a halogen-yielding cpd., e.g. SO2Cl2, N-bromosuccinimide/HCL or N-chlorosuccinimide/HF/pyridine.
