Tensioner device for chain or belt drives - uses engine oil pressure to reduce mechanical tension spring force

The device is esp. for control - and/or auxiliary appliance drivesey for 16 engines in vehicles. With increasing speed if the drive, the force of a mechanical tension spring is hydraulically reduced by a proportionally rising counter force. The hydraulic counter force results from the engine oil pressure, and is prportional to it. The oil enters a pressure chamber (4) via an inlet throttle (5), and leaves it at a lower pressure via an outlet nozzle (6). The profile of the outlet nozzle decreases with increasing oil temp. USE/ADVANTAGE - Chain as belt drive tensioner in vehicle engine uses oil pressure to reduce loading on mechanical tension spring.
