Hand-operated quick release mechanism for injection moulding tools - uses centering rings on tools to engage behind matching clamping rings in rebate on rear face of clamping plates

A hand-operated quick release mechanism is claimed for holding injection moulding tools into the clamping plates of the machine. A circular cut-out in each clamping plate has a dia. to match the outer dia. of a centering ring on each tool half and a lever-operated device on the clamping plate locks the inserted centering ring and attached tool half in position. A redn. in non-productive time on the machine during tool changes or removal and also secure retention of the tools is achieved by a bayonet connection on the clamping plate. The connection is fitted with an eccentric locking system. USE/ADVANTAGE - The quick release mechanism is used to attach tools to the clamping plates of an injection moulding machine, reduces tool removal times to a min. and guarantees sufficient clamping of the tools against the machine table.
