Mirror picture - formed by printed layer on mirror coating side of glass for portions to be removed, by sand blasting to give negative of picture

To apply a picture (9) to a mirror, a viscous and wear resistance mass is printed as a coating (7) to form a negative of the picture (9) on the side (2) of the glass pane (1) to carry the mirror coating (4). The sections of the picture coating (7) which are not to be covered by the mirror cladding (4) are cleared by sand blasting. At least the picture (9) sections are covered by a protective layer (10). The glass pane (1) pref. has a mirror coating (4) and a coppering (5) and a covering layer (6). To give the negative picture (9), a sufficient mass is applied of a material which has a greater resistance to the sand blasting than those layers (4,5,6), which are to be removed partially. ADVANTAGE - Gives simple and cost-effective application of picture to pane of glass.
