A flat sheet type heat exchanger consists of sheets with regularly spaced embossed impressions, which are welded together along the edges to form spaces between pairs and which are also welded together in pairs to form tubular openings resembling honeycombs; the sheets are thus bonded together into stacks so that their spaces for the heat-exchanging media are diposed at an angle to each other. The sheets are held apart by slotted plates along the edges; the distance between adjacent teeth of the plates is the depth of the embossed features plus double the thickness of one sheet, edging frame plates hold the stacks firmly together, combined with angle type members along the stacks. The structure pref. also incorporates silicone sealing strips and a silicone covering for foamed glass.
