A self-regulating flow control valve for a ventilation system comprises a valve housing 2 with an air-passage duct 3 and a valve member 4 which is mounted moveably in the air-passage duct, in order to control the flow of a stream of air which is produced during operation through the air-passage duct. The valve member 4 is essentially L- shaped in cross section, with a short limb 5 and a long limb 6, and can rotate about a rotation pin 7. The valve member 4 is mounted in the valve housing in such a manner that the long limb of the valve member extends substantially in the direction of the air stream 8 through the air-passage duct, and the short limb is at right angles to this air stream. The free end area 9 of the short limb 5 of the valve member is bent away from the long limb 6, at an angle of between 10 degree and 80 degree. The free end area 10 of the long limb 6 is bent towards the short limb. <IMAGE>
