The operating drive has a rotary spindle (14) coupled to the movable switch piece and alternatively rotated by an electric motor and an intermediate cog mechanism (37,38) or by a crank handle (43). The cog wheel (37) fitted to the rotary spindle (14) is displaced outof engagement with the drive cog (38) when the crank handle is employed. A blocking element (46) between the spindle (14) and the crank handle prevents operation of the latter until the cog wheel is moved out of engagement with the drive cog.
