In an electric rotary hand tool, especially a hand circular saw, with a drive spindle (13) driven by an electric motor (11) via a gear system (12), there is a spindle stop system (24) to stop the spindle (13) when the rotary tool (14) is to be changed having a grooved disc (25) fixed in rotation on the drive spindle (13) or the drive shaft (16) of the motor (11) with at least one engagement groove (26, 27) and an engagement pin (28) insertable in the engagement groove (26, 27) against a return spring (36). In order to engage automatically the spindle stop (24) when the tool is placed on a surface (15) on the tool casing (19) when the rotary tool is changed, an actuating slide (40) is fitted in the tool casing (10) so as to be axially movable and connected to the engagement pin (28) in such a way that, when the actuating slide (40) is moved axially to a position behind the surface (15), the engagement pin (28) is pushed into the engagement groove (26 or 27) of the grooved disc (26).
