Cylinder head gasket between cylinder lining and head - has sheet metal combustion chamber surround, forming beaded gasket termination

The cylinder head gasket is clamped between the sealing surface of the head with combustion chamber and the cylinder liner. It is composed of basic material and sheet metal rim-beaded surround for the combustion chamber. The surround (10), when compressed forms a seal termination, which encloses part of the chamber (5) and fits snugly or spherically into the chamber. The surround pref. bridges the offset (a) between the liner (1) wall and head (4) contact edge (11) of the chamber. USE/ADVANTAGE - For i.c. engines, with compact design and reduced pollutants.
