Briquetting grinding swarf and other metal swarf comprises (1) testing different batches of swarf to ascertain if they can be pressed; (2) mixing batches which cannot be pressed or which are difficult to press, and which have a significant proportion of structureless metal swarf, with batches which can be pressed and which have significant proportions of structured metal swarf of large particle size; (3) possibly adding other metal swarf; (4) intensively mixing the above materials together in a suitable liquid; (5) substantially removing the liquid from the mixed swarf; (6) pressing the swarf, which still contains some liquid, in a briquetting press to form briquettes; and (7) drying the briquettes produced. The use of the briquettes thus produced in steel mfr. is also claimed. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process is used for the recycling of metals from grinding and drilling swarf etc., to give this material an added value and to prevent waste.
