PURPOSE:To enable a flash lamp drive power supply to be stabilized in current- voltage characteristics and to lessen a flash lamp in impedance so as to enable a main discharge current to be quickly built up by a method wherein a simmer current is so set as to be in a positive resistance characteristics. CONSTITUTION:A simmer current is so set as to be in a region of positive resistance characteristics. That is, a flash lamp drive circuit provided with a charging circuit 1 and a trigger circuit 6 is so set as to start operating in a region where a pre-discharge current is possessed of a positive current/voltage characteristics. At this point, a region of current where a simmer current 9 indicates positive resistance characteristics is 10A or so. By this setup, as a flash lamp drive power supply is stable in current/voltage characteristics and large in current, a flash lamp 4 becomes small in impedance, in result a main discharge current can be quickly built up. |
