There is disclosed a mammalian Mast Cell Growth Factor (MGF) polypeptide, derivatives thereof, DNA sequences, recombinant DNA molecules and transformed host cells that produce MGF polypeptides. More particularly, this invention provides isolated mammalian MGF polypeptides and derivatives thereof that regulate early events in stem cell proliferation. Moreover, MGF polypeptides and derivatives thereof bind to a protein expression product of a c-kit proto-oncogene and/or stimulate mast cell proliferation. |
