PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of document editing operation by providing an area data storage means for storing character string data in a specified area by area specification and a character string data replacing means which replaces the character string data. CONSTITUTION:The replacement of the character string is instructed from a key input means 2 and stored in a key data storage means 3. The area is specified through an area specifying means 4 over a look at a document displayed on a display means 1. Data on the specified range is stored in an area data storage means 5. For example, area storage data X indicates a place a1, i.e., a character string A and area storage data Y indicates a place a2, i.e., a character string B. The character string data replacing means 6 moves the character string A to a dummy character string Z and the character string B to the character string. Then the dummy Z is moved to the character string B. Namely, the character string B is at the place a1 and the character string A is at the place a2, so that the replacement is completed. |
