<p>An in-line device for detecting the presence, and more particularly for monitoring the concentration, of one or more components in a fluid mixture, the device comprising at least two substantially monochromatic light sources (2), a probe (10) comprising a light conducting channel (9) optically connected to receive the light from the sources and arranged to allow light to interact with the fluid mixture, and weans (16) for analysing the light received from the light conducting channel. One of the light sources functions as a reference and the device preferably further comprises means for splitting the light from each light source into an analysis portion and a control portion, the analysis portion from each light source being transmitted to the light conducting channel and the control portion being transmitted to the analysis means, so that all system variables other than the absorbance of the fluid mixture are compensated for. <IMAGE></p> |
