[Also in Division B3] An injection moulding machine has means for timing the movement of an injection plunger 12 from an initial position S 0 to an intermediate position S 1 , and from the intermediate position to a final position S 2 , whereby deviations from standard timings can be compensated for by hand or automatically. The timing means may include switches 30, 31 operated by a cam 18 movable with the plunger. A third switch 47 is opened by a pressure indicator 25 operated by the rise in pressure which occurs when the plunger 12 reaches its final position. First and second pulse generators 40, 45 with associated counters 41, 46 may be used for determining the times. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown) a single pulse generator (45) is used, and the pressure operated switch 47 is replaced by a simple limit switch (32). In a further modification photo-cell switches are used in place of the mechanical switches 30, 31, 32, 47. In a still further modification the slow plunger travel time and the mould filling time are measured by stop watches operated by an element moving with the plunger. |
