The method and the device are used in the processing of machine parts under conditions of pulse glow discharge and they offer increased. By this method, current pulses are applied between the electrodes of the working chamber, where the parts are put, exciting the glow discharge. In the pauses between the pulses, the electrodes are short-circuited or connected to reverse polarity voltage source. The device consists of a working chamber (1) with a cathode (2) and anode (3) electrode. The parts (4), to be processed are put on the cathode electrode (2). The negative pole of a controllable current source (5) is connected to the cathode electrode (2) and one of the ends to switch (6). The positive pole of the controllable current source (5) is connected to the anode electrode (3) and to the other end to switch (6).
