1,010,792. Bearings. NADELLA S.A. & A. PITNER. April 27, 1962 [May 2, 1961], No. 16090/62. Heading F2A. A combined radial and axial bearing assembly comprises a radial rolling bearing 3 (Fig. 1), having an outer race ring 1, an axial rolling bearing 8, an annular plate 6 carrying a race of the bearing 3, and yieldable connector means, e.g. a sleeve 12, to connect the ring 1 to the plate 6. The plate 6 and ring (as in Fig. 1) may be joined by an adhesive or like medium. The connector means may be of resiliently deformable metal or synthetic plastics material, joining grooves in the ring 1 and plate (Fig. 3). In another form there are recesses 24, 25 (Fig. 4) in the plate 6 adjacent the end 16 of the ring 1, extended to fit in the recess 25 which is formed with an anular lip 26 resiliently engaging a circular recess 23 in the ring, the roller 3 being held in place by a rib at 27, or one recess 29 (Fig. 5) has a rebate 30 and the end 16 of the ring 1 has a lip 28 to resiliently engage it, the lips 26, 28 being rendered deformable by protection whilst the lapte 26 or ring 1 is surface-hardened. In a modification of what is shown in Fig. 4, the plate 6 has an annular recess 24 and the ring 1 has an inner recess adjacent thereto, the clearance being such that a strip of malleable metal can be forced between the inner recess and a conical surface in the annular recess. The recess 25 and rib at 27 are eliminated and the rollers 3 may be held in place by a separate sleeve like the sleeve 12 (Fig. 1), not acting as a connector. In a further modification the plate 6 (as in Fig. 4) has an inner annular recess on an edge with slightly converging flanks and the ring 1 has an adjacent annular corner recess with an upper wall inclined oppositely. A joining strip of malleable metal is forced into the recesses. |
