<p>PURPOSE:To enable a host computer to execute another processing after issuing a command by providing a buffer memory for command on the device side to eliminate a need to monitor the operation of a magnetic tape storage device by the host computer. CONSTITUTION:A buffer memory 109 for command, a buffer memory 110 for status, and an interface control circuit 102 are provided. An interface control circuit 102 determines whether received commands should be buffered or not by the operation command from a computer 101. When it is instructed that received commands should be transferred to the buffer memory 109 for command, only commands which are not accompanied with data transfer are transferred to the buffer memory 109 for commands. Thus, the magnetic tape storage device independently advances the command processing in a computer system incapable of parallel processing even in the case of the composite processing of plural commands, and the computer 101 can execute another processing during processing commands.</p> |
