PURPOSE:To improve the circulation speed of a gas laser medium by allowing said gas laser medium flowing in a main discharge space section to flow smoothly in the main discharge space section without generating swirls. CONSTITUTION:When pre-ionization of a main discharge space section 19 recedes, main discharge is ignited between a cathode 14 and an anode 15 so that the gas laser medium of the main discharge space section 19 may be discharged and excited, thereby generating laser light. Since both the top and the bottom of the section 19 are blocked by a second guide 21, the medium which has flown into the section 19 is so restrained that it may not flow out in the vertical direction of the section. Therefore, no eddy current is generated at the edge of the electrodes 14 and 15. This construction makes it possible to circulate the gas laser medium at high speed and increase the number of pulse repetition. |
